Evangelization and Mission Commission 2013-2019 admin Fri, 2014-08-08 09:31

The recent General Chapter has challenged us, once again, to witness by our community life to live according to how we identify ourselves through our Order documents. In the light of Pope Francis letter to the Prior General we are called upon again to - "Be missionaries of God's love and tenderness! Be missionaries of God's mercy, which always forgives us, always awaits us and loves us dearly." Evangelisation is not a particular aspect of the Church's mission, but rather it is its mission.

When I live in authenticity, I can see many signs of God in my life

Listening to the Scriptures

On the way Jesus came to the Samaritan town called Sychar near the land that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Jacob's well was there and Jesus, tired by the journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour. When a Samaritan woman came to draw water,

Joy in Contemplative Community - I FIND JOY IN THE CONTEMPLATIVE EXPERIENCE OF PRAYER AND WORSHIP admin Wed, 2016-06-29 00:00

Our common worship fills the heart with joy and nourishes the journey of faith.

Listening to the Scriptures

But the hour is coming -- indeed is already here -- when true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth: that is the kind of worshipper the Father seeks. God is spirit, and those who worship must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4: 23-24)

Joy in Contemplative Community - I FIND JOY EVEN IN MY STRUGGLES admin Sat, 2016-06-25 00:00

I have lived through many difficulties and I have grown stronger…

He came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed him. When he reached the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not come into the time of trial.

Joy in Contemplative Community - I FIND JOY IN BEING PART OF A COMMUNITY OF FAITH admin Tue, 2016-06-21 00:00

Walking with others in unfailing love enables me to rejoice in my faith.

Listening to the Scriptures

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.  For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help” (Eccl 4:9-10)

Joy in Contemplative Community - I FIND JOY IN THE BEAUTY OF CARMEL admin Fri, 2016-06-17 00:00

I thought about beauty and I found it in Carmel … and there was joy!

Listening to the Scriptures

The desert will bloom with flowers. It will be very glad and shout for joy. The glorious beauty of Lebanon will be given to it. It will be as beautiful as the rich lands of Carmel and Sharon. Everyone will see the glory of the Lord. They will see the beauty of our God. (Isaiah 35: 2)

As Carmelites We live our life of allegiance to Jesus Christ and to serve Him faithfully with a pure heart and a clear conscience through a commitment to seek the face of the living God (the contemplative dimension of life), through prayer, through fraternity, and through service (diakonia). These three fundamental elements of the charism are not distinct and unrelated values, but closely interwoven.

All of these we live under the protection, inspiration and guidance of Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whom we honor as "our Mother and sister."
