Carmelites

Carmelite spirituality is focused on attention to one’s relationship with Jesus.

Carmelites

Carmelite spirituality is characterised by an intense thirst for an immediate and direct experience of God.

Carmelites

Carmelite spirituality enables God-seekers to discover new heights and depths in their own hearts and in the God who calls and loves them.

God gave us faculties for our use; each of them will

God gave us faculties for our use; each of them will receive its proper reward. Then do not let us try to charm them to sleep, but permit them to do their work until divinely called to something higher.

(St. Teresa of Jesus)

We shall never learn to know ourselves except by endeavoring to know God; for, beholding His greatness we realize our own littleness; His purity shows us our foulness; and by meditating upon His humility we find how very far we are from being humble.

As Carmelites We live our life of allegiance to Jesus Christ and to serve Him faithfully with a pure heart and a clear conscience through a commitment to seek the face of the living God (the contemplative dimension of life), through prayer, through fraternity, and through service (diakonia). These three fundamental elements of the charism are not distinct and unrelated values, but closely interwoven.

All of these we live under the protection, inspiration and guidance of Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whom we honor as "our Mother and sister."
