Having examined the documents required by the Constitutions of our Order, the General Council during session 265 of the 3rd of September 2019 decided to canonically erect the General Commissariat of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus and Saint Albert in India.
The General Delegation of the Carmelites of the Latin Rite was established on 27 October 2011 and confirmed at the 2013 General Chapter.
There are now four Commissariats General in the Order: “La Bruna” in Naples (Italy), Portugal, Parana (Brazil) and that of the Latin Carmelites in India.
May these patron saints always protect the new General Commissariat.

As Carmelites We live our life of allegiance to Jesus Christ and to serve Him faithfully with a pure heart and a clear conscience through a commitment to seek the face of the living God (the contemplative dimension of life), through prayer, through fraternity, and through service (diakonia). These three fundamental elements of the charism are not distinct and unrelated values, but closely interwoven.

All of these we live under the protection, inspiration and guidance of Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whom we honor as "our Mother and sister."
