The Carmelite General Archive: conferral of the 2018 Research Grant

72/2018 – 21 – 10

On September 27, 2018, Dr. Vera Frantellizzi was assigned the research grant named in memory of Fr. Emanuele Boaga, O. Carm. At this second edition of the competition (2018) ten scholars took part, with high quality projects.

The winner will conduct a study project entitled: "After the Council of Trent. The women of Carmel in the constitutions of Giovanni Stefano Chizzola (AGOC, I MON. IV 5)". Through the critical edition of the manuscript, the comparison with other sources of the Archive and the historical contextualization, the scholar proposes to present the rules that regulated the material and spiritual life of Carmelite nuns between the 16th and 17th centuries, following on the changes brought about during and after the Council of Trent.

As Carmelites We live our life of allegiance to Jesus Christ and to serve Him faithfully with a pure heart and a clear conscience through a commitment to seek the face of the living God (the contemplative dimension of life), through prayer, through fraternity, and through service (diakonia). These three fundamental elements of the charism are not distinct and unrelated values, but closely interwoven.

All of these we live under the protection, inspiration and guidance of Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whom we honor as "our Mother and sister."
