A Meeting of the General Theological Commission

On the 4th of May, the General Theological Commission held its annual meeting at the Curia house in Rome. After the customary sharing of information about the work of the General Commissions,

there was a discussion of a series of possible initiatives in relation to the upcoming centenaries, of St. Albert of Jerusalem in 2014 and St. Teresa of Jesus in 2015. In addition, there was a discussion on the state of preparation of the forthcoming Assembly on the Word of God in Carmel, programmed for 2013, and the possibility of a symposium for Carmelite psychologists. There was also a sharing of ideas around the ways to organise ongoing formation and the ways to offer to the Order, for the reflection of its members, what the Commission has produced in relation to the prophetic dimension of our Order.

As Carmelites We live our life of allegiance to Jesus Christ and to serve Him faithfully with a pure heart and a clear conscience through a commitment to seek the face of the living God (the contemplative dimension of life), through prayer, through fraternity, and through service (diakonia). These three fundamental elements of the charism are not distinct and unrelated values, but closely interwoven.

All of these we live under the protection, inspiration and guidance of Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whom we honor as "our Mother and sister."
