From the 10th to the 17th of May, a meeting of the O.Carm. and O.C.D. General Councils took place in Aylesford, England. After a tour of this place of great importance for the Order and a report on the life and present situation of the shrine, the members of the two Councils took part in the celebration of Vespers at the Anglican Cathedral of Rochester, where the group received a very warm, fraternal and ecumenical welcome.

Carmelites and the Second Vatican Council – CISA Lectures

Once again this year the community of St. Albert’s International Centre and the Institutum Carmelitanum offered a series of lectures to the public. The theme this year was “Carmelites and the Second Vatican Council”. The lectures were given in the conference hall in St. Albert’s Centre and a good number of members of the Carmelite family and others attended each evening.

The General Councils of the O. Carm. and ODC friars met in in Aylesford, UK, from 11 to 16 May. In the course of this encounter, the members of the two councils spent some time working with Lord Rowan Williams, archbishop of Canterbury 2002-2012, and now Master of Magdalene College in the University of Cambridge.
