ZENIT's numbers

Zenit - Tue, 2013-05-14 06:00

Dear ZENIT Reader,

Sometimes numbers speak louder than words. Here are some ZENIT numbers.

  • 7 language editions of daily news services (English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian and Arabic)

  • 17 types of services published each week

  • 25,300 articles published over the past year

  • 2,350 services distributed over the past year

  • Over 9,000 documents that can be found on www.zenit.org

  • Over 500,000 private subscribers who receive ZENIT by e-mail

  • About 30,000 media worldwide that publish ZENIT (including radio stations and diocesan and parish bulletins)

  • 400,000 e-mail messages that go out every day from ZENIT

  • 1,000,000 e-mail messages that are sent on certain days to our subscribers

  • 13 servers to manage the Web site and e-mail

  • 160 distribution lists used to send messages to readers

  • 130 e-mail boxes used by the ZENIT team

  • 40 staff members (including writers, editors, translators and technicians)

  • 14 nationalities of ZENIT staff members (American, Argentine, Australian, Belgian, Brazilian, English, French, German, Irish, Italian, Lebanese, Mexican, Perivian, Spanish)

  • $350,000 the amount needed from our English-speaking private readers

  • Less than $3.00 per year per person, if $350,000 is divided among the 120,000 English-speaking private readers.

  • $296,000 the amount obtained so far in this year's fund-raising campaign thanks to the generosity of our English-edition readers

  • 4,600 the number of English-edition readers who have contributed to the annual fund-raising campaign

  • about $70, the average donation received

  • 770 the number of $70 donations needed to achieve the goal of this year's campaign

So, we would need 770 readers to send $70 for us to reach our goal.

Could you be one of those 770 readers?

ZENIT has no other source of revenue. Without the support of its readers it can neither exist nor grow.

We are counting on your help!

To send your donation:
http://www.zenit.org/english/donation.html

As in previous years, we hope that these last days of the campaign will prove decisive and that the number of donations will markedly increase.

Staff members dedicate themselves 100% to ZENIT, but it would be in vain without the support of our readers.

We are most grateful for any help you can give us, large or small.

With best wishes,

The ZENIT Team

Dear reader,

At this moment, 4,300 English-speaking readers have responded to our call and have supported ZENIT by sending a donation.

That is a good number -- and we're sure that it will grow in these last days of the campaign so that we can cover the $58,000 that are still needed for the English edition.

We thank each reader who has decided or will decide to send a donation. As we have already mentioned, you are an indispensable group of people. Every ZENIT reader benefits from your generosity.

ZENIT could not continue without the financial support of its readers. However, we do count on another kind of support: Many readers -- even thousands -- pray for ZENIT and those who support us with their donations.

We receive beautiful messages that assure us people are praying for the success of the campaign even though they are unable to send a donation.

Below, you'll find a small selection of these messages.

TAIWAN

Dear Zenit Friends.
For many years I have been receiving information regarding all the good work you have performed in communicating to the world the news of the Church, for which today I would like to express my thanks to you.

Although I am unable to make a financial contribution, I pray that all your information continues to reach many more people. This for me has been a means of education and something for which I am extremely grateful to you. I am a Religious Daughter of Jesus and have spent many years in Taiwan performing pastoral duties for the local church.
Please accept, once again, my thanks and my prayers.

Rosario Gallego, FI

BRASIL

Zenit has helped me a great deal to find out more about the reality of the Church and the world. I find it an interesting tool, a resource which I use in the course of my get-togethers as vocational coach and missionary. At the same time, Zenit, has in recent years contributed to my growth and commitment to the area of communication and outreach: I have striven to create a vocational blog and have written a devotional “Novena” to our founder, Saint Guido Maria Conforti. What this means, is that Zenit has also become an invitation and a stimulus for me to extend my mission beyond borders, making greater use of the social communication media.
Peace and prayers
Father Gabriel Guarnieri sx
