On the 25th and 26th of November, 2015, a meeting of eight nuns took place in the Carmelite house in Castellina, on the hills outside Florence. The nuns were from six Italian monasteries and they gathered to work with the Order’s commission charged with the events to be held to mark the 450 years since St. Mary Magdalen was born. Sr. M. Martina Simeone, the president of the nuns’ federation also took part. The work of the first day was devoted to a study of the saint guided by Fr. Bruno Secondin, O.Carm, who provided interpretative keys to help in the reading of her works and some suggestions for the celebration of this anniversary. The work of the second day was guided by Fr. Mario Alfarano, O.Carm. It was devoted to the organisation and distribution of the work that has to be done during the anniversary. Moreover, it was agreed to meet one year from now for a further formation assembly on St. Mary Magdalen. Those who took part in this meeting visited the monastery in Careggi, Florence where along with the sisters of the community, they celebrated the Eucharist beside the casket containing the body of the saint. Some of the participants also had the occasion to visit the hermitage at Scandicci, in Florence.
