General Information

Dear brothers,

We are writing this letter in order to convey some useful information in preparation for the General Chapter, which is to be held, at ‘Il Carmelo’, in Sassone, Italy, from the 9th to the 27th of September 2019.

Although  many of you have already had occasion to visit Sassone, we thought it would be helpful to indicate some practical suggestions.

Transport: The General Curia is organizing airport transfer from Fiumicino and Ciampino Airports to Sassone. Participants are kindly asked to communicate their travel information as soon as possible to the email address:

The train station at Sassone is NOT functioning.

Hence, anyone who prefers to reach ‘Il Carmelo’ independently should stop at the station ACQUA ACETOSA. If you let the secretariat know your time of arrival there in advance, we should be able to send a car to pick up participants.

Arrivals and Departures: The Chapter is due to start on the 10th of September, thus arrivals are scheduled to the 9th. The Chapter ends with breakfast on the 28th September. Should anyone like to arrive before or leave later than the indicated dates, please make the necessary arrangements directly with the management of ‘Il Carmelo’ at:

Visa: Some will need a Visa to enter Italy. Please send a SCAN of your passport to the address, as soon as possible - during August offices are normally shut for a while.

Chapter Documents: Upon arrival participants will receive a bag containing some printed material, included the Liber Capituli, which has already been sent by mail.

As customary, further documentation shall be passed on to participants during the Chapter, such as the reports made by councillors and other officials, together with the texts of presentations made.

In agreement with the Preparatory Commission, for reasons of ecological sustainability, it is proposed that official documents of the Chapter are offered to participants not as printed copies but rather via email.

The Secretariat will provide printed copies to those who request this by filling in the form attached to this letter.

Kitchen, Allergies and Dietary restrictions: Participants are kindly asked to indicate any allergies or dietary restrictions.

Moreover, participants are asked to indicate in advance if they will be joined by any guests for meals.

Laundy: Laundry services will be available once a week.

Habit: The Preparatory Commission asks all participants to bring habit and white cloak.

Other useful information:

  1. Wi-Fi Connection: ‘Il Carmelo’ is equipped with wi-fi internet connection
  2. Electric Adapters: Please bring your own adapters as unfortunately we are not in a position to provide THEM.
  3. Swimming Pool: The swimming pool in the complex will be available for use by participants’.

Thank you for your attention.  We give you our best regards, and ask you to forward the attached form before the 30th July 2019 to the email address
