A course on leadership in Indonesia

On February 9, 2019, the Little Way Community, a Carmelite lay group in Jakarta, held a course on leadership of inter-religious community of Indonesia. They invited Fr. Leo Lefebure, a diocesan priest of Chicago, and Fr. Hariawan Adji O.Carm. from Malang, Indonesia to participate and talk. Two hundred participants attended this course. They are from different parishes in the Archdiocese of Jakarta.

On Wednesday, March 28, 2019, Fr. Ignasius Budiono O.Carm., the Prior Provincial of the Indonesian Province, blessed the new chapel of the Mary Magdalene de Pazzi Carmelite Monastery in Tosiga, Jakarta. The monastery was renovated and some bedrooms were added so that it might accomodate more Carmelites. The new chapel is part of the Indonesian Province’s plan to open a Carmelite Spirituality Centre in Jakarta in this coming July 2019. The building of the chapel and the renovation of the monastery is funded by the Little Way Community, a Carmelite lay group in Jakarta.

As Carmelites We live our life of allegiance to Jesus Christ and to serve Him faithfully with a pure heart and a clear conscience through a commitment to seek the face of the living God (the contemplative dimension of life), through prayer, through fraternity, and through service (diakonia). These three fundamental elements of the charism are not distinct and unrelated values, but closely interwoven.

All of these we live under the protection, inspiration and guidance of Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whom we honor as "our Mother and sister."
