Federations
Carmelite nuns, together with the Church and religious Orders, have endured the changes in history, but have remained faithful to the charism of Carmel. Having renewed their Constitutions according to the spirit of the Second Vatican Council, today there are about a thousand of them in about eighty monasteries spread throughout the world.
Following the counsels of the Church, various monasteries have grouped together to form a Federation of monasteries, with their own statutes. The Federation constitutes an important step for better communication, establishing initial and ongoing formation and a valuable help in all their needs so that they may fulfil their mission and live more fraternally.
There are currently six Federations. In Italy, we have the "Santa Maria Maddalena de' Pazzi" federation. In Spain, there are three federations: “Mater et Decor Carmeli”, “Mater Unitatis” and “Virgo Flos Carmeli”. In Latin America, we have the “Nuestra Señora del Carmen” federation and in the Philippines, we have the “Stella Maris” federation.
