On 29 January we celebrate Blessed Archangela Girlani.
She was born Elanor Girlani in 1460 at Trino in the Marquisate of Monferrato.
She took the Carmelite habit at the age of 17 in the monastery of Parma, where she also became prioress.
Later she held the same position in the new monastery of Mantua, which she founded, and where she died on January 25, 1495.
She distinguished herself for her special devotion to the Holy Trinity.
Her cult was confirmed by Pope Pius IX.
Prayer
Father in heaven,
you gave the virgin Blessed Archangela Girlani
particular dedication to the mystery of the eternal Trinity.
Through her prayers
may we taste the delights of your glory
already here on earth,
and look upon you for ever in heaven.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
