New Prior Provincial and Councilors of the Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary
The Prior General has confirmed the recent elections of the Prior Provincial and the Councilors of the Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary:

Activities of the Carmelite General Archive
After the break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, on June 3 the General Archive restarted to receive scholars according to the procedures which have been published on the website www.archivioocarm.com.
The deadline for the 2020 research grant, dedicated to E. Boaga, has been extended to 30 September. On the Archive's website you will find all the relevant information in the three official languages of the Order. (links: English, Español, Italiano)
On 5 June, the Archive took part in the Festival of Archives, organized by the Association "Archivissima", which saw the participation of around 150 Italian archives. The theme assigned for this year has been on the role of women as protagonists of change and transformation paths. Due to the pandemic, the event, which initially was to include evening openings of the archives along with exhibitions and conferences, took place entirely online. The General Archive participated with a video entitled: "The monastery as a 'laboratory' of thought and writing: Rosa Maria Serio and the Carmel of Fasano", which can be seen on: www.facebook.com/archivioocarm

Bishop Francisco De Sales Alencar Batista, O.Carm.
Fr. Francesco Sales was born on April 17, 1968 in Araripina, Pernambuco, Brazil and a member of the Carmelite Province of Pernambuco. He made his profession in the Carmelite Order in 1988 and was ordained a priest in 1995. He studied philosophy at the Vincentino Institute of Philosophy in Curitiba and Salesian Institute of Philosophy in Recife, and theology at the Miltown Institute in Ireland. Back to Brazil, he served as provincial secretary, fomator, Provincial Concilor and Parish pastor. From 2005 to 2011 he was a prior Provincial of the Province of Pernambuco. In 2012 he was a Vice-Prior of St. Albert's International Centre in Rome and during this time he obtained a license in sacred theology at the Teresianum Pontifical. In 2013 he was appointed General Secretary of the Order in 2013 and was appointed bishop of the diocese of Cajazeiras, in Brazil, by Pope Francis on 8th June 2016.

On 16th May 2020, that the Holy Father, Pope Francis has nominated bishop of the Diocese of Fajardo-Humacao, in Puerto Rico, Fr. Luis Francisco Miranda Rivera, O.Carm., of the Provincial Commissariat of the Antilles of the Province of Aragon, Castile and Valencia. Fr. Luis Francisco was born at Santurce in Puerto Rico, on 22nd January 1954. Following his profession in the Order on 15th August 1980 he studied theology at the Pontifical University of Salamanca (Spain), after which he completed a Licentiate in Theology (Religious Life). On 14th September 1984 he was ordained priest.
He was currently the National Delegate of the flourishing Carmelite Third Order in Puerto Rico, which already has 17 Carmelite lay communities. For the last 15 years he has lived in the Carmelite community of San Juan de Puerto Rico, and has served as pastor in the Parish of St. Teresita de San Juan in Puerto Rico, as well as Episcopal Vicar of the San Juan-Santurce Zone.
