St. Andrew Corsini - Mass Texts

January 9 Feast

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the man who brings tidings of peace, joy and salvation. Is 52:7

Where today is celebrated as a Feast, The Gloria is said.

Let us pray
[that we may work for justice and peace]

Pause for silent prayer

God our Father,
you reveal that those who work for peace will be called your children.
Through the prayers of St Andrew Corsini, who excelled as a peacemaker,
help us to work without ceasing for that justice
which brings true and lasting peace.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Where today is celebrated as a Feast the readings are proper: see The Carmelite Lectionary p. 8. Elsewhere they will normally be those of the current weekday, though
the proper readings, or others from the Common of Pastors, may be used if preferred.

accept the gifts we bring to your altar in memory of St Andrew Corsini.
As you led him to glory through these mysteries, grant us also your pardon and love.
Through Christ our Lord.

Where today is celebrated as a Feast, Preface of Pastors, p. 141. Elsewhere the Preface may be seasonal, or of Pastors.

I was eyes for the blind and feet for the lame. I was a father to the poor, and listened to the plea of the stranger. Job 29:15-16

Let us pray.

Pause for silent prayer, if this has not preceded.

God of all mercy, strengthen with your peace the people you have fed with the bread of heaven.
Through the prayers of your bishop St Andrew Corsini
bring them at last to their eternal rest.
Through Christ our Lord.

The following may replace the simple blessing.

After the greeting the deacon (or, in his absence, the priest) gives the invitation in these or similar words:

Bow your heads and pray for God’s blessing.

Then the priest extends his hands over the people, while he sings or says:

God the Father made St Andrew Corsini the shepherd of an afflicted people.
May he grant you wise obedience to the pastors of his Church. R Amen.

God the Son became poor to make us rich, and gave St Andrew Corsini great compassion for the poor.
May he grant you the grace of unselfishness and concern for the needs of others. R Amen.

God the Holy Spirit gave St Andrew Corsini the ability to reconcile opposing factions.
May he grant you the gift of bringing peace wherever you may go. R Amen.

May almighty God bless you,
the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit. Amen
